division WJOMI Jiggers - Rise Up Society Fan Page is the YouTube channel dedicated to helping patients in Africa suffering from tungiasis - i.e. invasion by the sand flea Tunga penetrans. The flea dwells in sand approx. at a depth of 2-5 cm, hence the disease commonly affects the lower limbs. In general there are no effective drugs with the most common method of treatment being mechanical removal, together with administration of drugs preventing secondary bacterial infections and tetanus prophylaxis.
